Surfboard footrope fixing method
Securing your surfboard footrope is an important step in ensuring safe surfing, here's how to do it right and what to look for:
How to tie the foot rope
Thread the foot ropes through the nubs on the board and then use the buckles to tie the foot ropes tightly. This will prevent the small buckle from being yanked open by the wave causing the board to fly out. Do not pass the foot rope through the nubs of the board as prolonged rubbing tends to wear out the rope and can easily scratch or scuff the board.
Position of the footrope
The foot rope should be tied behind the back at the ankle position, making sure the end of the rope is behind the leg. This will prevent you from tripping over your legs while standing and maintain your balance. Footrope material and safety
Use a footrope made of plastic to avoid direct contact with the board and reduce the risk of abrasion and scratching. Ensure that the footrope is securely attached to the board to avoid it coming loose during wave action.
Caveat
Regularly check the footrope for wear and tear and replace damaged footrope in a timely manner.
Before surfing, make sure the foot leash is tightly tied and correctly positioned to avoid accidents in the waves. 12 By using the above methods, you can ensure that your surfboard foot leash is securely and reliably fastened, enhancing your surfing experience while reducing risk.
